About Us

Your Acting Journey Starts Here

At Expressions, we focus on the full process — from developing truthful performances to understanding how film sets actually work. Our instructors are working artists who care deeply about the growth of each student. Whether someone is stepping in front of the camera for the first time or preparing for professional auditions, they’ll find a place here that values curiosity, courage, and craft. Every story starts somewhere. Ours starts with the belief that young people can tell powerful ones.

Our Story

Expressions Film Studio began as a small acting school with a big vision: to create a space where young people could explore the craft of film acting in a way that felt honest, collaborative, and grounded. What started with just a few students and a borrowed camera has grown into a dynamic creative hub in Winnipeg, offering classes, camps, and production opportunities for youth and teen actors. We’ve always believed in learning by doing — so our students don’t just study acting; they create short films, audition on camera, and gain real on-set experience.

Meet The Team

I’m thrilled and honoured to introduce myself as the new director at Expressions.

After nearly 25 years in the performing arts, stepping into this role feels like coming home. I studied Theatre and Film at the University of Winnipeg and have since had the privilege of exploring unique disciplines: Theatre for Living in Vancouver, movement and clowning at Dell’Arte International in California, and mask-making and Balinese dance in Bali.

My teaching journey began at Manitoba Theatre for Young People (MTYP), where I started as a student, became a teaching assistant, and later, an instructor. Over the next 18 years, I wore many hats at MTYP, including actor, house manager, backstage crew, and drama outreach coordinator. Alongside MTYP, I’ve taught at Green Kids Inc, Monica’s Danz Gym, the Rady JCC, and the Autism Learning Centre. From 2016 to 2018, I also had the opportunity to run the theatre school at Prairie Theatre Exchange.

I believe deeply in the power of arts education. It’s more than producing talented actors or dancers; it’s about nurturing confidence, creativity, and resilience. Arts classes foster friendships, encourage students to think outside the box, and give them a space to explore the best versions of themselves. On a personal note, I’m a dedicated foodie with a knack for cooking. I also love fishing, whether it's in the summer sun or on the ice in winter. While I don’t have children under five, I do have two dogs who keep me busy and entertained. I’m humbled to continue the incredible legacy Reena and Neil have built over the past 13 years. They’ve created a strong foundation here at Expressions, and I’m excited to work with our wonderful staff and students to build the next chapter. From my first day teaching here, I’ve seen the deep sense of community and joy that defines this school—it’s like a big family. I can’t wait to continue that spirit and help shape a bright future for Expressions. Thank you for your support and trust as we enter this exciting new phase together. I look forward to meeting each of you in the coming months!
